BDR BIOGRAPHY

www.braindamageradio.com was first established in 2005.

BDR was inspired by Disowned's involvement with the London underground music scene. He felt that there was no single site that provided music downloads in a clear and simple manner. He wanted his site to provide quick and clear access to DJ set downloads, with a clear and logical format...

BDR first went online in April 2005 with the first Promotional material being handed out at Slammin' Vinyls Tranzmission at Alexandra Palace, North London. The launch was successful and over the coming months the site grew as many new DJs and crews came onboard. The most notable of these was the Life4Land crew who came to Disowned's attention at the 2005 Cambridge Strawberry Fair. They seemed to be the perfect complement to BDR and became by far the most popular artists on the site, with Ed Coxs Clowncore mix receiving over 100,000 downloads in just over 18 months. Then in April of 2006 Braindrop came onboard.

This was the start of a new era for BDR. The site was getting regular promotion at every Braindrop event and was gaining even more new artists and DJ,s. The time seemed right for a new venture so in late 2006 the First BDR 12' vinyl was released. The vinyl was used as a physical representation of the BDR music ethos with many styles sat side by side. The mighty CLSM kindly provided a track from their Bonkers 16 mix, plus ED COX, BASS6,  DJ Nee and BDR original, Ugo The Destroyer. Only 500 copies were pressed with the intention of keeping it a sought after piece of plastic. The release proved very popular and was mostly sold out by early 2007 although some copies can still be found for sale online today. After much discussion the decision was taken not to carry on with the label. It was felt that Vinyl sales were in decline and the group involved in financing the release decided the hard work involved in building a credible label would be wasted...

Meanwhile...

By mid 2007 the long awaited move to Jack's in London Bridge came for Braindrop, whilst Disowned and Skinny&Clarkie launched Graffiti Breakz in Camden, leading to even more live sets being recorded and hosted on the now bulging pages of BDR. By late 2007 the site was getting over 30.000 hits a month and rising as other areas of the site started to take off. In 2008 the BDR online shop began to push the many different EP's and Albums released by the Life4Land crew with much interest coming from eastern europe. in 2009 Disowned was starting to feel the strain of running the now much enlarged site and activity on the site slowed for the later part of the year...

In April 2010 BDR was back with a full rebuild courtesy of Skinny Designs. The new site was again launched at Slammin Vinyls, Tranzmission only this time BDR was on the inside with a set for Disowned and Braindrop hosting a room..

At the time of writing this we have been back up and running for sometime, with business as usual at BDR. Check out the different areas of the site to get a clear impression of whats on offer.
